Authentic Sopa de Frijol at Olé in Inman Square

ole_logoI’m always up for Mexican food! Olé in Inman Square, in Cambridge, MA serves up authentic Mexican fare by Chef Erwin Ramos.

The restaurant decor harkens the flavor of Mexico with its beautiful artwork and color scheme. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, yet sophisticated. A lively front room and a spacious back room allow plenty of seating options, and the front bar provides a fun social air.

With fresh guacamole made right at our table, we dug into the chips with gusto! And the salsa had an unusual sweetness that worked well with the fresh guacamole. The soup was Sopa de Frijol (black bean) and was served with queso fresco, sweet plantain and avocado. I’ve had many a black bean soup, and this one had a pleasant smooth finish not often experienced. The chips, the guacamole, the salsa and the soup – a perfect matching! Just add sangria, and your set!

And, there’s always room for my favorite dessert, flan, which had that melt-in-your-mouth caramel sweetness I just love!

Right across the street is Olécito – for those with no time to sit. The same great food on the go!
